Spoon Horses

The Spoon Horse and other Small Shaves, is an extension of my earlier book, Shaving Horses, Lap Shaves and Other Woodland Vices (Crafty Little Press, 2016). It has come about after several years using a variety of traditional designs and adapting these to suit my own craft practice. The Spoon Horse has now replaced the role of my larger shaving horse, when I work on smaller items. The Bench Horse is also a valuable resource in my workshop.

Reflecting on design matters, I felt strongly that these smaller, sometimes more conveniently assembled seated vices are of greater advantage to green woodworkers who make spoons, fanbirds, pegs and other small items, than I had previously explored.
